A collector of sunglasses and art. A lover of the ocean, colourful things and ceramics. A passionate wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. A learner, vege gardener and ice bather, who truly believes in the words of Henri Matisse – "There are always flowers for those who want to see them."
Residing in Taranaki, Auckland-born and Wellington-trained artist Vicky Lord is a curious creative who uses painting and design on a daily basis to communicate and connect with others. She is a locally renowned design & brand consultant, creativity workshop facilitator and artist, as well as ‘Mum’ to active two young boys.
Vicky’s current body of artworks explores what lies below – an uncovering of truth, a challenge to the status quo and a discovery of symbiotic inner workings beneath the surface.
Amidst the biomorphic forms and organic mark making of her poetically rendered abstract works we see botanical references, including coral and leaf like forms.
Vicky’s works and her creative process is a careful choreography and a celebration of light and life. A painterly exposè of hidden worlds, finely balanced eco-systems and micro-climates.
Vicky Lord’s paintings offer new perspectives on our natural surrounds with feminine beauty and organic forms composed with a humming vibration and a playful exploration of scale and balance.
Living in Aotearoa, frequent exploration of walkways along the west coast and through native bush provides inspiration in abundance. The juxtapositions and dichotomies present in Mother Nature are reflected in Vicky's work.
